Just my Knee

Over two years ago I pivoted wrong on my right knee and my kneecap came completely out of place. I was in a knee brace and on crutches for 6 weeks. Went through 2 months of physical therapy. My knee has never been the same since but it has remained in place …..that is until Saturday night. According to my friend who was there for the first time, I did the exact same thing. I pivoted to my right and BOOM……out went the kneecap and down on my ass I went. I was in a small bar with friends having a really good time and BANG….once again I shoved the kneecap back into place and tried not to scream as loud as I did. I was surrounded by people and felt just plain stupid.
They helped my up and got me outside and into a reclining chair by the fire. The bar owner got me a large bag of ice and a shot of tequila. Both helped. The ice has kept the swelling to less than last time..but the bruising is starting to come through though. DAMN this thing hurts. I hate it.
After the ice took over my friend managed to get me into the van and we headed home. We were supposed to stay overnight but there was no way I was going to be able to sleep in the back of my van.
I called the doctor and he suggested I keep off it and continue doing what I knew to do. Ice and elevate. I emailed work right away this morning after not sleeping all night from the pain. I am sure they are upset but I think I would have been more of a burden than a help there today.
I am going to ice-elevate and attempt to nap.
Wish I had tequila.
